Learn how to set up and use GR Mint with your GR camera

Geotag Function

For first-time use, you need to pair your phone with the camera. Once pairing is complete, you can start using the Geotag function anytime without pairing again.

First-time setup:

1. Enable Bluetooth on your camera

  • Go to: MENU → Bluetooth Setting → Action Mode
  • Select either "On Anytime" or "On When Power Is On"
Note: "On Anytime" mode consumes more battery power.

2. Pair your phone with the camera

a. On your camera:
  • Go to MENU → Bluetooth Setting → Pairing → Execute Pairing
b. On your phone:
  • Open the GR Mint app
  • Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled
  • When prompted for the first time, allow GR Mint to:
  • Access Bluetooth devices
  • Click the "Add Device" control area at the bottom
  • Your camera appears in the list (ensure your camera has enabled Bluetooth pairing, if timed out, click the blue button to retry)
  • Enter the authentication code displayed on your camera
  • Pairing is now complete

After pairing (next time use):

  • Simply open GR Mint, tap the GPS icon, and the Geotag function will start automatically. You can also enable auto-start in app settings so the geotag function starts automatically each time you open the app.
  • No need to pair again unless you reset Bluetooth settings or switch to another device.

Location Updates and Battery Optimization

The app updates your location only under specific conditions:

Time Intervals

At user-defined fixed time intervals, if the device has not moved

Distance Threshold

When the device moves beyond a set distance – as configured in Settings

You can customize both the time interval and distance threshold in the app's Settings section.
This feature works only if the app remains active in the phone's background
Please make sure this camera setting is enabled: MENU → Smartphone Link → Store Location Info → On.

Additional benefit:

  • When the camera is powered on or a photo is taken, the app pushes real-time location information to the camera.
  • This ensures accurate geotags at the moment of shooting.
  • Helps save battery while maintaining precise geotagging.
